Nichido Final Powder in So Natural April 2, 2009

Filed under: Face Powder, Nichido — mygaia13 @ 12:49 pm

First I’d like to apologize for not writing anything for the past weeks. I’ve been obsessing over my new (at least new to me) second hand Softbank X01HT (aka Hermes, HTC TYTN etc.), it has given me problems and joy at the same time actually I’m still obsessing about it, tinkering, upgrading, installing apps basically just making it cool and pretty for my tastes. So now I guess I’ll try to at least write a couple of reviews a week if I can. Now the review….

I was looking for a loose powder to set my foundation when I tried and bought this. ‘So Natural’ is the darkest shade they have that’s why I opted for this one. It was pretty cheap for 25grams so what the hey, I took a chance. I applied this with a huge powder brush tapped a few on the lid, swirl and buff. Ok first reaction was the powder itself is not finely milled so application wasn’t flawless. The shade was a tad too light for me then but since I have acidic skin I didn’t mind because most powders would turn a bit dark on me after 30 mins or so. This powder didn’t work for me because I really have oily skin and this just didn’t have any oil control whatsoever. The only good thing is I didn’t break out from this still I can’t attest to it really because I didn’t use it that long. I don’t have this anymore sold it because I just can’t use it for anything else. If you have normal skin I think this might be okay to use as a final powder if you can find a shade that will suit you. So no I won’t be buying again, I like my powders finely milled thank you very much.(^_^)

Sheene blush March 11, 2009

I like this blush, it has 3 shades which you can use together or each one by itself. I prefer mixing them all together because I get this nice reddish apricot shade that makes you look really healthy but if applied too much it can look clownish so apply with a light hand. Also I like that it has no shimmers or glitters, that’s why it can look natural. Staying power is medium, depending on your skin type since I’m oily probably it stays on 4 hours tops. By the way the brush included is useless, it’s too soft for application and it can make your blush look streaky. This brand is not widely available here anymore so I don’t know where else to get this, that’s okay since I’m not planning to buy this again.

Wet n’ Wild Foundation in Honee February 17, 2009

There were a lot of good reviews about this foundation in makeupalley.com that’s why I asked my sister to buy me this when she went to the US. Honee as far as I know is the darkest shade that they have so I chose this shade.

I used my foundation brush when I applied this, it wasn’t streaky but it was a bit greasy. Ok after application I really needed to set this, I used my Coty loose powder. Coverage was medium, not enough if you have dark acne scars you may need to use concealer. Staying power was not so good on me, well I have oily skin. My face started to become shiny after 15 min. I had to blot and blot and blot. By the way this shade is a bit too light on me but since I’m acidic after 30 min. it looked just right. After using this 3 times I had to stop because it just couldn’t handle my too oily skin. I really don’t like my make up melting in my face, it feels icky. I gave this to my mom, who has dry skin maybe she can work it.

I won’t be repurchasing. Oh if maybe you like the dewy look this might be good for that.

Sivannah Foundation Brush February 12, 2009

This is my very first official foundation brush. The hair is synthetic, the handle length is just right and it’s perfect for applying my mousse and liquid foundation. I found this brush when I was just window shopping at Festival Mall. There’s this kiosk selling soaps, vitamins and make-up stuff. I spied this along with other face brushes, I bought one right away which costs P150. I first used this with my mousse foundation and application was perfect, no streaking and it blended the foundie well. With liquid foundie application was also perfect and I really think that using a sponge or a brush is better than just using your fingers, I mean it’s more hygienic and if your like me who’s acne-prone you can never be too careful. After a week of buying one I decided to get another for emergencies. I always wash this brush every after use so when I get lazy at least I’ll have another one on hand. I realized when I bought my second brush that the first one I got is slightly less packed than the other one. It’s no biggie they both work just the same.

I’ve had this brushes for more than a year now and they both still look and work great. I had a bit of mishap with my first brush the ferrule kinda split with the handle but nothing a good glue can’t fix.

I recommend this if you ever spot this brush somewhere, it’s not very easy to find though.

Godiva Fruit Acid Cream February 10, 2009

This is one of the best products I’ve tried that really really works, at least for me. This works to lighten freckles and age spots, reduce fine lines and moisturize skin. I used to have dark patches which are only noticeable to me on my forehead, I used this every night and has helped even out the color. But what’s really best about this product is it diminished all my black and whiteheads. The only thing I don’t like about this is when I wake up my face becomes really oily, more oily than usual. That’s okay, I can handle that.

When using this product always wear SPF and try not to stay out in the sun too long. Some people experience peeling when they tried this but not me, I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. This has not been a staple for me, I find the price a little steep for a maintenance cream I can’t always afford it but when I get some extra cash yeah I would definitely buy this again.

Godiva Anti-Blemish Astringent February 10, 2009

Filed under: Godiva, Skin Care — mygaia13 @ 12:07 pm

I tried this when I was battling with lots of acne before. I’ve read some reviews about this product that it does help with curing and preventing acne. It had seemed to work for me, it wasn’t miraculous or anything but it seemed to have helped a bit. I was able to finish one bottle and bought another one but I noticed that my skin was a lot more oilier than before when I used this. The reason I stopped using it was there were other products that I wanted to try as a toner. I never went back to this though, I prefer the toner I’m using right now.

ELF Mascara in Noire February 8, 2009

This was in a lot I purchased online. The mascara was clumpy and it smudged on me, for both applicators. The product also dried up pretty fast on the tube so I had to throw it out even though I’ve only used it a few times. So no, I will not repurchase.

ELF Foundation Brush February 5, 2009

I didn’t like this brush for its intended purpose but as a concealer brush this works fine. Why don’t I like it as a foundation brush? First the hair is too soft for foundie application, I’ve tried it with liquid and mousse types and blending was a pain. I find the shape of the brush too narrow and the brush is not dense enough. The only good thing about it is the type of hair they used which is synthetic. If you’re in need of concealing large areas this would be a good brush, because as I said it’s really soft and you don’t need to worry about over applying. I tried this to apply my cream blushes it’s no good for that too. This brush is already in the hands of my mom, she uses it for concealing lines.

ELF Bronzer in Sunkissed February 2, 2009

This was the very first bronzer I bought and tried. It was summer at the time and I thought well it’s a good time to give it a go. So there weren’t ELF counters locally at the time, I was able to buy this online for P100. My first impression was the compact was huge so it will take a long time for me to finish it even if I use it everyday. Sunkissed is slightly on the copperish bronzy side, it has very tiny gold flecks which suits my skin tone. It doesn’t look muddy on me but if over applied it can look too strong. I mainly use bronzers for contour, it would look great if you know how to use it. The texture is a bit powdery, I don’t swipe my brush on it I simply pat it because it’s easier to control the amount of powder.

A few months ago I gave this to my mom because the shade doesn’t seem to compliment me anymore, it would always look to obvious even if I just applied a small amount. My shade might have gone a bit lighter. I was poking around my mom’s stash when I saw this compact and the bronzer in pieces, so I asked her what happened. It seems she had dropped it and the whole product just crumbled. I told her to make it into a loose powder bronzer instead. I’m not sure if she heed my advice I didn’t check again.

This product is fairly cheap but I won’t be repurchasing again. I’m using a Jordana bronzer in 02 and I find it better for me.
