Some of me…

All Souls Day ‘08 November 3, 2008

Yearly we visit my dad(he’s been gone for 4 years now) in his resting place at Manila Memorial Park. It wasn’t much of a crush today like last year, there were fewer people. We arrived at around 11 am, there was minimal traffic and the weather was fine sunny and windy. I noticed that my dad has a new ‘neighbor‘, died the same month he did and was also a dad like him.

My mom bought a small potted flowers and candles that my brother and I had difficulty setting up, we had to use our ‘McGyver’ instinct so the candles won’t get snuffed by the wind. It was already time to eat lunch when we finished so the bro and I went to buy food in the kiosks surrounding the cemetery at this time of year. He brought along flyers (he works for Hyundai Sucat) and stuck it in on driver’s side doors which he said is the right way to stick flyers. So after the short walk and arguing which food to buy, we decided on the KFC chicken strips and one-piece for the bro. I cant’t say I was satisfied with the food it was food and I was hungry, oh I also wanted to comment on the bottled water they were selling it was priced at P30 mind you it was a small bottle. Good thing the neighboring kiosk was selling a bigger bottle and was priced at a reasonable price of P20.

After eating we talked about Nio my nephew, my brother’s son (he’s my brother’s favorite topic). His named after our dad, yes the one lying on the ground and at our surprise he had an uncanny resemblance to his grandfather which up until now we don’t know if it’s a good thing or what. He’s only 14 days old and he’s been showing how a good, healthy and strong baby he is. He can lift his head on his own and does stretching all the time, he only cries when he’s hungry and needs changing and has a very healthy appetite. He’s my favorite nephew even if he’s the only nephew I have, hahaha.

So after all the chatting and stuff I spotted an insect on top of my mom’s open umbrella. It was big and green, a nice shimmery green actually. They asked me to take a picture and I was trying to but I was having a hard time taking out my camera out of its pouch. While I was struggling with the stupid pouch the ‘insect’ (I’m sorry I don’t know what kind it was) decided to fly toward me and then dropped in front me, it did not move and at long last I was able to pull out my camera and got to take a pic of it. After a few seconds of photo shoot it decided to fly away. Surprisingly after a few minutes it came back and flew directly at me and it landed on my hair I stopped the urge to jump around and shriek because I’m not really an insect person. My mom tried to shoo it off so it flew again toward another open umbrella. It might like umbrellas and me.

I took some pics.

We talked about my dad and how he would be so proud of himself if he saw Nio…. we miss him.
