Nichido Final Powder in So Natural April 2, 2009

First I’d like to apologize for not writing anything for the past weeks. I’ve been obsessing over my new (at least new to me) second hand Softbank X01HT (aka Hermes, HTC TYTN etc.), it has given me problems and joy at the same time actually I’m still obsessing about it, tinkering, upgrading, installing apps basically just making it cool and pretty for my tastes. So now I guess I’ll try to at least write a couple of reviews a week if I can. Now the review….

I was looking for a loose powder to set my foundation when I tried and bought this. ‘So Natural’ is the darkest shade they have that’s why I opted for this one. It was pretty cheap for 25grams so what the hey, I took a chance. I applied this with a huge powder brush tapped a few on the lid, swirl and buff. Ok first reaction was the powder itself is not finely milled so application wasn’t flawless. The shade was a tad too light for me then but since I have acidic skin I didn’t mind because most powders would turn a bit dark on me after 30 mins or so. This powder didn’t work for me because I really have oily skin and this just didn’t have any oil control whatsoever. The only good thing is I didn’t break out from this still I can’t attest to it really because I didn’t use it that long. I don’t have this anymore sold it because I just can’t use it for anything else. If you have normal skin I think this might be okay to use as a final powder if you can find a shade that will suit you. So no I won’t be buying again, I like my powders finely milled thank you very much.(^_^)

Coty Airspun face powder in Translucent December 11, 2008

There were a lot of raves about this loose powder in makeupalley so I went ahead and bought one for myself. It was priced @ P330 at Somera in Glorietta. I think it’s an okay price since the net weight is 65 grams which is a lot. First, I have to say I like the packaging it has that vintage vibe going on and I think this product has been around since our grandmas were young because the scent reminded me of one of my grandmothers. I shared this with my mom since I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to finish this on my own. I placed 1 tbsp. on a sifter jar so I can have easy access because getting the powder from it’s original packaging is quite messy. The texture of the powder is finely milled, I like to use it as a finishing powder after I’ve put on the rest of my make up. I tried to use this alone it didn’t help much with the oiliness of my face but I wasn’t really expecting it to. I didn’t break out from this so that alone is good enough for me. Translucent shade is a bit light for me but since I’m acidic it darkens a bit in a few minutes also I can’t use this on the summer when my skin gets a bit darker especially after going to the beach. I won’t be repurchasing any time soon or never or maybe if I might see a shade that fits my skin tone.

Maybelline Pure Powder in Dark November 15, 2008

I only bought this particular powder because I was in need of a powder that is slightly darker than my skin tone and this was the cheapest I can find online because most powders that are locally available are still too light for me. I am not much fan a of Maybelline since I always can find better alternatives to their products but I’m pretty impressed with this one because it has done the job what I bought it for. My reason for buying a darker shade of powder is I’m using a liquid foundation that I love but turns out to be too light for me, this powder helps to balance the shade so it will suit me. I didn’t break out from this powder so yay for Maybelline. It didn’t do much for oil control though. I got this for P100 on ebay.ph. I will repurchase when I ran out if ever.
